The formation of mesoderm as evaginated sacs from the arhenteron is characteristic of:

    A)  Palamnaeus

    B)  Pila

    C)  Physalia

    D)  Pentaceros

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

The formation of mesoderm as evaginated sacs from the archenteron is  the characteristic feature of Pentaceros. In Pentaceros tip of the larval archenteron forms the mesenchyme which later on gives rise to two pouches. Two pouches of mesenchyme connect anteriorly to form a U-shaped coelom. In Pila and Palamnaeus mesoderm does not arise from archenteron. In Physalia, which is a member of coelenterata, the mesodern is absent.
