A force \[F\to =3\widehat{i}+c\widehat{j}+2\widehat{k}\] acting on a particle  causes a displacement \[s\to =-\,4\widehat{i}+2\widehat{j}+2\widehat{k}\] its own direction. If the work done is 6 J, the value of c is:

    A)  zero

    B)  1

    C)  12

    D)  6

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

                     Work done is given by \[W=F.s\]                                 (Given: W = 6 joule) \[\vec{F}=3\hat{i}+\hat{j}+2\hat{k}\]                                 \[\vec{s}=(-4\hat{i}+2\hat{j}+3\hat{k})\] \[6=(3\hat{i}+c\hat{j}+2\hat{k}).(-4\hat{i}+2\hat{j}+3\hat{k})\] \[6=-12+2c+6\]                                 or            \[2c=12\]                                 So,          \[c=6\]
