The best condition for heterogeneous catalysis is

    A)  adsorption

    B)  absorption

    C)  diffusion

    D)  occlusion

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Heterogeneous catalysis The catalytic process in which the reactants and the catalyst are in the different phases, is known as heterogeneous catalysis. In heterogeneous catalysis, the reactant molecules are adsorbed on the surface of the catalyst and the reaction takes place on that surface. The adsorbed molecules are held to the surface of the catalyst by bonds similar in strength to those in chemical compounds.  Now some bonds of adsorbed molecule may be stretched, weakened and ultimately cleaved to form products.
