  • question_answer
A body is projected at an angle \[{{45}^{o}}\] with horizontal. If escape velocity when projected vertically up is 11.2 km/s, what is its new escape velocity when projected at the given angle?

    A)  \[\frac{11.2}{\sqrt{2}}km/s\]

    B)  \[11.2\sqrt{2}km/s\]

    C)  \[11.2\,km/s\]

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Escape velocity \[{{V}_{e}}=\sqrt{2gR}\] which is independent of the angle of projection. Therefore, the new escape velocity will be same, (ie, 11.2 km/s) irrespective of the angle, the body makes with horizontal.
