The glenoid cavity is associated with

    A)  scapula

    B)  humerus

    C)  Both [a] and [b]

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Glenoid is associated with both scapula and humerus. Scapula is large, Hat and triangular bone, overlapping the posterior aspects of transverse processes of second to seventh thoracic vertebrae on its side. The two scapular bones are easily recognizable on our back as shoulder blades. Posterior (back)  surface of upper broader part of each scapula is marked by a prominent ridge or spine, which obliquely extends from medial margin to lateral margin of scapula and projects beyond upper lateral angles as a triangular acromian process. Another small process, called coracoids process, projects upwards from superior broader of scapula near  acromian process. Just below the latter is a cap-like glenoid cavity into, which the head of humerus bone of upper arm is articulated.
