The process of joining of amino acids is called

    A)  transcription

    B)  translation

    C)  conjugation

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

The amino acids linked in a particular sequence as per the sequence ofnucleotides  in the mRNA by a process called translation. Translation or Nosynthesis of proteins occurs pn ribosomes which are called as protein factories. Ribosomes may form rosette or helical groups of 5-20 called polyribosomes (Rich 1963). The ribosomes of a polyribosome are held together by a strand of mRNA. Transcription is a heterocatalytic function of DNA which involves transfer of coded  information from DNA to RNA through the synthesis of RNA over the template of DNA. Only one of the two strand of DNA called template strand, master strand, coding strand or sense strand is involved. Conjugation is a process of genetic transfer that involves cell to cell contact. Conjugation is a plasmid encoded mechanism.
