This type of body cavity is called a pseudocoel and the animals are called pseudocoelomate. Fasciola belongs to phylum-Platyhelminthes. It lacks a coelom and cellular surface epidermis. Instead, there is a thick, tough and protective continuous layer of cytoplasm.
