    Knee joint is:

    A)  cartilageneous

    B)  fibrous

    C)  gliding joint

    D)  synovial

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Knee joint, elbow, ankle and interpharyngeal joints are example of hinge joint (a type of synovial joint). A hinge joint allows movement primarily in one plane. Gliding joint is also a type of synovial joint. No rotation or twisting is possible because the bones are packed closely together or held in place by ligaments. In fibrous joint there is no movement between the bones concerned. White fibrous tissue found between the ends of the bones. In cartilageneous or slightly movable joints there is a pad of white fibrocartilage between the ends of the bones taking part in the joint which allow for very slightly movement.
