Which of the following is concerned with \[C{{O}_{2}}\]fixation?

    A)  Krebs cycle

    B)  Calvin cycle

    C)  Omithine cycle

    D)  Glycolysis

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Calvin et. al, traced out the path of carbon dioxide fixation into carbohydrates by using radioactive isotope of carbon \[({{C}^{14}})\] in \[C{{O}_{2}}\]with algae Chlorella and Senedesmus. Glycolysis deals with breakdown of a molecule of glucose in two molecules of pyruvic acid in the cytoplasm. Krebs cycle deals with aerobic oxidation of pyruvic acid in mitochondria with release of \[C{{O}_{2}}\], water and ATP. Urea is synthesized in liver from \[N{{H}_{3}}\] and \[C{{O}_{2}}\] through Ornithine cycle.
