    The members of Myxophyceae or Cyanophy ceae are commonly known as blue-green algae due to the presence of blue-green pigment c-phycocyanin, c-phycoerythrin  alongwith chlorophyll-a, \[\text{ }\!\!\beta\!\!\text{ }\]-carotene and myxoxaanthin. Members of class Dinophyceae are dark yellw or brown or red coloured. They have in  addition to chlorophyll-a and c, large amount of carotenoids also, Members of Rhodophyceae are red in colour due to presence of phycoerythrin\[({{C}_{34}}{{H}_{46}}{{O}_{8}}{{N}_{4}})\]. Phycocyanin, chlorophyll-a carotene and xanthophyll are also present in small amount.
