Single membrane bound organelles are :

    A)  lysosome

    B)  sphaerosome

    C)  glyoxysome

    D)  all of these

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Lysosome, glyoxysome and sphaerosomes are single membrane bound cell organelles. Lysosomes are supposed to contain hydrolytic enzymes in them. Due to presence of hydrolytic enzymes they are called suicidal bag of cell. Glyoxysomes usually occur in fat rich plants and seems to be associated with triglyceride metabolism through glyoxylate cycle. Sphaerosomes are small spherical vesicles of 0.2- 0.8 \[\text{ }\!\!\mu\!\!\text{ }\] with their formation from smooth ER. These include enzymes like esterases, nucleases, hydrolases, phosphatases. Proteases etc.
