The stele found in monocot is :

    A)  haplostele

    B)  atactostele

    C)  dictyostele

    D)  actinostele

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Monocots have atactostele in which vascular bundles are arranged into more than one rings and they are usually found at the centre of stem. In haplostele a smooth core of xylem is surrounded by a uniform layer of phloem e.g. Rhynia, Selaginella. In actinostele the xylem core is star-shaped and the phloem is present in the form of separate patches alternating with projecting parts of xylem e.g., Lycopodium serratum. In dictyostele leaf gaps overlap in their longitudinal extent to such a degree that vascular cylinder of stem appears dissected into tubular network of interconnected longitudinal strands (meristeles) separated from one another by parenchymatous tissue.
