Unwinding of DNA is done by :

    A)  primase

    B)  exonuclease

    C)  helicase

    D)  ligase

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

DNA helicase (unwindase) unwind the DNA helix and separate the two strands, of DNA during replication. The single strand binding proteins remains separate each strand from each other. The enzyme primase synthesize the RNA primer for polymerisation of nucleotides. RNA primer is the basic requirement for DNA synthesis because DNA polymerase cannot initiate DNA synthesis. DNA ligase joins the fragments of DNA which are formed on lagging strand. The exonuclease enzyme cuts the nucleotides from the ends of the strand.
