[b] The endosperm is formed after fertilization among the angiosperms, whereas in gymnosperms it is  formed before fertilization. [c] The phloem in gymnosperms lacks companion cells, whereas these are present among the angiosperms. [d] Vessels are usually absent from the xylem of gymnosperms but they are present among the angiosperms.
