In the synthesis of which of the following, the DNA molecule is not directly involved?

    A)  m-RNA molecule

    B)  Protein molecule

    C)  Another DNA molecule

    D)  t-RNA molecule

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

DNA is not directly involved in the sysnthesis of protein molecules. Protein synthesis takes place by translation, the process by which the genetic message carried by m-RNA from the DNA is converted in the form of a polypeptide chain having a specific sequence of amino acids. Plus protein synthesis is an extra-nuclear process which occurs    on    the    ribosomes,    the rib nucleoprotein particles that provide the sites for protein synthesis. Protein synthesis follows the central dogma of molecular biology; the basic mechanism by which DNA makes RNA, which in turn makes protein. \[\text{DNA}\xrightarrow[{}]{\text{Replication}}\text{DNA}\xrightarrow[{}]{\text{Transcription}}\]\[\text{RNA}\xrightarrow[{}]{\text{Transcription}}\text{Protein}\] All processes except translation, i.e., replication and transcription, take place within nucleus or are intra-nuclear. Thus, DNA maybe said to control protein synthesis, but not directly involved with it.
