If a cell has twice as much DNA as in a normal functional cell, it means that the cells:

    A)  is preparing to divide

    B)  has completed division

    C)  has reached the end of its life span

    D)  has ceased to function

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

A growing cell undergoes a cell cycle that consist essentially of two periods interphase and irdtotic phase. Intel-phase is the period in which cells prepare for cell division by synthesizing RNA and protein (In\[{{G}_{1}}\] and \[{{G}_{2}}\] phase) and DNA (in s-phase). Thus if cell has twice as much DNA as in a normal functional cell it mean that the cell is preparing to divide.
