With what minimum acceleration can a fireman slide down a rope whose bricking strength is two third of his weight?

    A) \[\frac{g}{3}\]

    B) \[\frac{g}{6}\]

    C) \[\frac{g}{2}\]

    D) \[\frac{g}{9}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Suppose T is the tension in the string then the downward force will be \[Mg-T\] When a is downward acceleration then according to Newtons second law \[Mg-T=ma\] Here,  \[{{T}_{\min }}=\frac{2}{3}mg\]then \[a={{a}_{\min }}\] \[mg-\frac{2}{3}mg=m{{a}_{\min }}\] So, \[{{a}_{\min }}g-\frac{2}{3}g=\frac{1}{3}g=\frac{8}{3}\]
