If the change in the value of g at a height h above the surface of the earth is the same as at a depth x below its surface, then:                                                                                                     [BHU M-2012]

    A)                  \[{{I}_{b}}=35\mu A=35\times {{10}^{-6}}A\]

    B)                  \[\therefore \]

    C)                  \[{{R}_{b}}=\frac{7}{35\times {{10}^{-6}}}\]

    D)                  \[=200\times {{10}^{3}}\,\Omega \]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

                     Key Idea: The value of \[g\] decrease on going above and below the earth?s surface.                 The value of \[g\]at a height \[h\] above the earth?s surface of radius \[R\] is given by                                                 \[g'=g\left( 1-\frac{Zh}{R} \right)\]           ?(1)                 The value of \[g\] at a depth \[x\] below the surface of earth is given by                                                 \[g'\,\,'=g\left( 1-\frac{x}{R} \right)\]      ?(2)                 Given,                   \[g'=g'\,'\]                 \[\therefore \]  \[g\left( 1-\frac{2h}{R} \right)=g\left( 1-\frac{x}{R} \right)\]                 \[\Rightarrow \]               \[x=2h\]
