Sporogony of malarial parasite occurs in :

    A)  stomach wall of mosquito

    B)  liver of man

    C)  RBCs of man

    D)  salivary gland of mosquito

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Sporogony :       Oocyst of Plasmodium undergoes sporogony. In this process, nucleus of oocyst is divided repeatedly and large number of nuclei are formed which get surrounded by small part of cytoplasm and results in sporoblast. Sporoblast is developed into sporozoites i.e., infective stage of Plasmodium. Sporogony of malarial parasite occurs in stomach wall of mosquito. Sporozoites move towards salivary glands when Anopheles mosquito bites a healthy person, the sporozoites are injected into the blood along with the saliva. Pre-erythrocyticschizogony takes place in liver and erythrocyticschizogony occurs in RBC of man. Merozoites are formed during erythrocyticschizogony.
