    A)  fruit

    B)  seed

    C)   inflorescence

    D)  bulbil

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Fruit is a ripened ovary, which encloses seeds. Fruit is absent in gymnospermic plants because there is absence of ovary, so naked seeds are developed in gymnosperms. The wheat grain is a fuit. Caryopsis fruits are unilocular and one seeded, in which pericarp (developed from ovary wall) is fused with seed coat. These fruits are present in family-Gramineae e.g., Wheat, rice and maize. So wheat grain is a fruit, in which fruit wall and seed coat is fused together. Inflorescence is the arrangement of flowers and mode of distribution of flowers on the shoot system of a plant e. g., Hypanthodium in Ficus. Bulbil is the special type of leaf like structure and functions as an vegetative reproductive structure e. g., As in Dioscorea.
