    Photosystem-II works in :

    A)  grana of chloroplast

    B)  stroma of chloroplast

    C)  periplastidial space

    D)  cytoplasm

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Photosystem-II works in grana of chloroplast i.e., inner surface of the thylakoid. Photosystem-II produces a strong oxidant that evolved oxygen from the photolysis of water. The dark reaction of photosynthesis takes place in stroma of chloroplast. In dark phase carbon dioxide is assimilated with the help of assimilatory power (ATP and) to produce organic substances. The space between the outer and inner membrane of chloroplast is called, periplastidial space. It takes part in transport of materials. Photosynthesis does not take place in cytoplasm. But the glycolysis of respiration takes place in cytoplasm.
