Directions : In the following question more than one of the answers given may be correct. Select the correct answer and mark it according to the code:

Green light causes emission of photoelectrons from a surface, but not the yellow light. Emission of photoelectron will occur if the surface is illuminated by: (1) microwave                   (2) blue rays (3) ultraviolet rays           (4) infrared rays

    A)  1 and 2 are correct

    B)  2 and 3 are correct

    C)  1 and 4 are correct

    D)  1, 2 and 3 are correct

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Since, photoelectric emission is produced by green light hence, the frequency of incident light must be greater than that of green light for photoelectric emission, which is so for blue rays and ultraviolet rays.
