Directions: In the following question more than one of the answers given may be correct. Select the correct answer and mark it according to the code:

In an n-p-n transistor circuit, the collector current is 10 mA. If 90% of the electrons are able to reach the collector: (1) the emitter current will be 9 mA (2) the emitter current will be 11 mA (3) the base current will be 1 mA (4) the base current will be 0.1 Ma

    A)  1 and 2 are correct

    B)  2 and 3 are correct

    C)  1 and 4 and correct

    D)  1, 2 and 4 are correct

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

\[{{I}_{E}}={{I}_{B}}+{{I}_{C}}\] and     \[{{I}_{C}}=10\,mA\] Since, 90% of the total current, passes through collector, so emitter current is, \[{{I}_{E}}=\frac{100}{90}{{I}_{C}}=\frac{100}{90}\times 10=11\,mA\] \[\therefore \]Base current, \[{{I}_{B}}={{I}_{E}}-{{I}_{C}}=11-10=1\,mA\]
