DNA duplex model proposed by Watson and Crick is right handed. Initially two right handed forms were discovered. A-DNA and B-DNA. Later on two more right handed forms were found out. The three additional right handed forms are D-DNA with 8 base pairs per turn, C-DNA 9 base pairs and A-DNA with 11 base pairs per turn of spiral. Z-DNA is left handed spiral with zig-zag back, alternate purine and pyrimidine bases, 12 base pairs per rum of spiral which is 45 A in length.
