Directions : In the following question more than one of the answers given may be correct. Select the correct answer and mark it according to the code:

Haemoglobin is : (1) oligomeric protein    (2) chromoprotein (3) monomeric protein (4) keratin

    A)  1,2 and 3 are correct.

    B)  1 and 2 are correct.

    C)  2 and 4 are correct.

    D)  1 and 3 are correct.

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Haemoglobin is a conjugated protein which is made up of a protein, called globin and a non protein group heme, hence the name haemoglobin. The molecular formula of haemoglobin is \[{{\text{C}}_{\text{3032}}}\,{{\text{H}}_{\text{4816}}}\,{{\text{O}}_{\text{872}}}\,{{\text{N}}_{\text{780}}}\,{{\text{S}}_{\text{8}}}\,\text{F}{{\text{e}}_{\text{4}}}\]Haemoglobin is conjugate protein. Conjugate proteins include oligomeric protein and chromoprotein.
