The de-Broglie wavelength of a body of  mass m and kinetic energy E is given by:

    A) \[\lambda =\frac{h}{mE}\]

    B)        \[\lambda =\frac{\sqrt{2mE}}{h}\]

    C)        \[\lambda =\frac{h}{2mE}\]

    D)        \[\lambda =\frac{h}{\sqrt{2mE}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

de-Broglie wavelength of a body moving with velocity \[v\]is given by \[\lambda =\frac{h}{mv}\]                           ?(i) where h is Plancks constant. The kinetic energy of the body moving with velocity \[v\] is \[E=\frac{1}{2}m{{v}^{2}}\] or            \[mv=\sqrt{2Em}\]                                          ?(ii) Combining Eqs. (i) and (ii), we have \[\lambda =\frac{h}{\sqrt{2mE}}\]
