    Solution :

                     Given one main scale division, 1MSD \[=x\,cm\]and \[n\,VSD=(n-1)\,MSD\] \[\therefore 1\,VSD=\frac{(n-1)\,MSD}{n}=\frac{(n-1)x}{n}\] Now, least count = 1 MSD - 1 VSD                                 \[=x-\frac{(n-1)x}{n}=\frac{x}{n}cm\]
