Insectivorous plants grow in deficient soil

    A)                  Na

    B)  N

    C)                  C

    D)  \[{{O}_{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Insectivorous plants are partly autotrophic and partly heterotrophic. These plants grow in nitrogen deficient soil. They fulfil their nitrogen deficiency by capturing the insects. The leaves of these plants develop special insect catching devices, eg, Drosera, Nepenthes, Utricularia etc. Carbon hydrogen and oxygen are frame work elements. These elements are taken up by the plants in form of \[C{{O}_{2}}\] and water. Sodium is needed by blue-green algae for growth. In higher plants it maintains differential permeability of biomembranes.
