    Gobar gas contains mainly

    A)                 \[C{{H}_{4}}+C{{O}_{2}}\]

    B)  \[C{{H}_{4}}+{{O}_{3}}\]

    C)                 \[C{{O}_{2}}+{{H}_{2}}\]

    D)  \[C{{O}_{2}}+S{{O}_{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Biogas is a methane rich fuel gas produced by anaerobic breakdown or digestion of biomass with the help of methanogenic bacteria. It is mainly produced from animal wastes. \[\underset{Glu\cos e}{\mathop{{{C}_{6}}{{H}_{12}}{{O}_{6}}}}\,\,\,\,\xrightarrow{{}}\,\,\,\underset{Methane}{\mathop{3C{{H}_{4}}}}\,\,\,\,\,+\,\,\underset{Carbon\,\,dioxide}{\mathop{3C{{O}_{2}}}}\,\] \[\underset{value}{\mathop{Energy}}\,\]            \[16\,\,g{{k}^{-1}}\]                        \[56\,\,gJ{{g}^{-1}}\] Natural gas consists of about 80% methane while biogas is composed of methane 50-70%, \[C{{O}_{2}}\] 30-40% and traces of hydrogen, nitrogen and \[{{H}_{2}}S\]. Its calorific value is about 23-28\[Ms/{{m}^{3}}\]. The residues left after generation of biomass is an ideal manure rich in minerals. During biogas production, a mixture of micro-organisms is used in the fermentation; including methancgens. eg, Methanobacterium.
