    Alkyne occur in nature in

    A)  partially free state

    B)  not in free state

    C)   free state

    D)  None of the above

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Alkynes are unsaturated hydrocarbons containing a \[C\equiv C\] bond. Their general formula is \[{{C}_{n}}{{H}_{2n-2}}\]. Alkynes are very reactive. So, they do not occur in nature in free state. The carbon-carbon triple bond is made up of two weak Ti-bonds and one strong or-bond. Note - The carbon atoms forming a triple bond are sp-hybridized.
