  • question_answer
For the reaction\[C(s)+C{{O}_{2}}(g)2CO(g)\]the partial pressure for \[C{{O}_{2}}\] and CO are 4 and 8 atm respectively. \[{{K}_{p}}\] for the reaction is

    A)  1 atm

    B)  5 atm

    C)  2 atm

    D)  16 atm

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Key Idea             For the reaction                 \[C(s)+C{{O}_{2}}(g)2CO(g)\]                 \[{{K}_{p}}=\frac{{{({{p}_{CO}})}^{2}}}{({{P}_{C{{O}_{2}}}})}\] Here,     \[{{p}_{CO}}=8\,\,atm\] and \[{{p}_{C{{O}_{2}}}}=4\,\,atm\] Therefore,          \[{{K}_{p}}=\frac{{{(8)}^{2}}}{4}=\frac{64}{4}\]                                 \[{{K}_{p}}=16\] atm
