                     Weight of a body is mg, where m is mass, g the acceleration due to gravity. A body is balanced when a force applied is equal to its weight. Therefore, to lift it up, an additional force is required. Hence, the minimum force required is  \[(mg+ma)>mg\]which is greater than mg.
