                     LSD is crystalline amidated alkaloid derived from ergot, an extract got from fruiting body of fungus, Claviceps purpurea. The drug brings about rapid heart beat, high blood pressure higher body temperature, pupillary dilation nausea vomiting, diarrhoea. It also leads to CNS damage, non-coordination of body parts, chromosomal aberration, foetal abnormalities and psychosis. It may lead to unconsciousness and even death. Opium is dried latex of unripe capsule of white poppy. It is taken orally or smoked. It has narcotic, analgesic (pain killer) and sedative effect. It is useful in treating diarrhoea, vomiting and as soothing agent in cough syrups. It contains number of alkaloids like morphine, codeine, papaverine, thebaine etc. Nicotine is the major alkaloid present in tobacco. It has narcotic and soothing property.    Alcohol taken in moderation stimulate blood flow and makes a drunker warm, reduces, anxiety and increases self confidence.
