    B)  Syrinx and uropygial gland

    C)  Claws and uropygial gland

    D)  Syrinx and scales

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Birds have evolved from Ornithichian dinosaurs during Jurassic period of Mesozoic era. Huxley described them as "glorified reptiles". Birds have epidermal exoskeleton in the form of feathers, scales, claws and beaks. The hind limb bears claws. Scales are present only on lower legs and feet. Syrinx (sound box) is made up of expanded tympanum. The sound is produced by the vibration of the tympaniform membrane during expiration. Uropygial gland or oil gland or green glands are the only skin glands present. They are located at the root of the tail.
