    D)  Caulerapa

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Chara is member of class-Charophyceae which includes green algae. Commonly known as stone worts. Charales have larvicidal properties and hence, are used to control mosquitoes. Charales are also a cheap source of calcium in acidic conditions and thus help in calcium encrustation. Oscillatoria is a blue-green alga and helps in nitrogen fixation. Blue-green alga is also used in the reclamation of baren, alkaline soils.                 Diatoms are both-aquatic and terrestrial. Diatom is a rock like deposit formed from the indestratible, silicious frustules. Diatomite is fire proof and highly absorbent. It is also used in tooth paste. Caulerapa is cultivated in phillepines as a source of food.
