    Water stomata are found in

    A)  plants lacking normal stomata

    B)  plants inhabiting dry regions

    C)  plants inhabiting humid region

    D)  all plants

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Plants inhabiting in humid region exude water   with special structure called hydathodes. These occur on leaves usually along the margins or the tip. They become active only when root pressure or exudation pressure increase due to reduced transpiration under humid condition. Water is forced by root pressure into the intercellular space of mesophyll cells and comes out in the form of droplets. They are of three types (i) Unicellular hydathodes (i) Trichome hydathodes (iii) Hydathodes with water conducting elements. Hydathodes are also known as water stomata.
