What is the focal length of a double convex lens for which the radius of curvature of each surface is 60 cm ? (n = 1.5)

    A)  30 cm

    B)  60 cm

    C)  90 cm

    D)  30 cm

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                     From lens formula \[\frac{1}{f}=(\mu -1)\,\left( \frac{1}{{{R}_{1}}}-\frac{1}{{{R}_{2}}} \right)\] Given,   \[\mu =1.5,\,{{R}_{1}}=60\,cm,\,{{R}_{2}}=-60\,cm\] \[\therefore \]  \[\frac{1}{f}=(1.5-1)\,\left( \frac{1}{60}+\frac{1}{60} \right)\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[f=60\,cm\]
