In this test the compound react with iodine and \[NaOH\] and gives a yellow ppt. of iodoform.  \[C{{H}_{3}}-\underset{\begin{smallmatrix}  | \\  OH \end{smallmatrix}}{\mathop{C}}\,H-C{{H}_{3}}\] contains \[C{{H}_{3}}-\underset{\begin{smallmatrix}  | \\  OH \end{smallmatrix}}{\mathop{C}}\,H-\] group.
