The equation of a wave moving on a string is \[\text{y}=8\text{ sin2}\,\pi \text{ }\left( 0.0\text{1 x}-\text{2 }\omega \text{t} \right),\] where y and x are in cm and t in second the amplitude of wave is

    A)  8 cm

    B)  25 cm

    C)  50 cm

    D)  100 cm

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

                     The standard equation of a wave of amplitude a is given by                                 \[y=a\,\sin \,2\pi \,\left( \frac{x}{\lambda }-\frac{t}{T} \right)\] ... (i) Given, equation is                 \[y=8\,\,\sin \,2\pi \,(0.01x-2\,\omega \,t)\]       ... (ii) Comparing Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get                 a = 8 cm
