    D)                  sorosis

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Cypsela develops from bicarpellary, syncarpous, unilocular, inferior ovary eg, sunflower. In many plants a hairy structure called pappus is present, which helps in dispersal of seed, eg, Sonchus, Dandelion, Lactuca. Silicula is a few seeded shortened and flattened siliqua, eg, shepherds purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris), Iberis amara (candytuft). Siliqua develops from bicarpellary, bilocular ovary with parietal placentation and false septum or replum, which dehisces by two valves from base upwards, eg, mustard, radish. Sorosis is multiple or composite fruit, which develops from either a spike or female catkin inflorescence. It is a female catkin in mulberry (.Moms), whole fruit is edible. The flower fuses together by their sepals or parianth and the whole inflorescence form a compact mass, eg, jack fruit, mulberry, pineapple.
