Which of these bile products is not used in the solubilization?

    A)                  Bile salts

    B)                  Cholesterol

    C)                  Lecithin

    D)                  Bile pigments

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Cholesterol is not used in solublization as it is insoluble in water. These lipids must be removed from the tissue of origin to the tissue, in which they will be stored or consumed. They are carried in blood plasma from one tissue to another as plasma lipoproteins. Bile salts are amphipathic steroid derivatives with detergent properties, participating in digestion and absorption of lipids. Lecithin is an important cell membrane component and is component of bile, helping to render cholesterol soluble. Bile pigment bilirubin is a waste product of heme of haemoglobin formed during breakdown of worn-out erythrocytes.
