    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

The biological concept of species was proposed by E Mayer. According to this concept, ?species is a group of individuals, which resemble each other in morphological,   physiological, biochemical and behavioural characters.? These individuals are capable of breeding freely in between themselves under natural conditions, but are incapable of breeding with members of other species. Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778), a Swedish Naturalist known as ?Father of Taxonomy? published ?Systema Naturae? (1758) and ?Species Plantarum? (1753). He introduced Binomial System of Nomenclature. Von Baer (1627-1705) gave concept of species and term Genera. He published ?Historia generalis plantatrum? and also gave classification of insects, reptiles quadripeds in 1693-1704.
