Photochemical smog pollution does not contain:

    A)                  ozone

    B)                  nitrogen dioxide

    C)                  carbon dioxide

    D)                  PAN (Peroxy Acyl Nitrate)

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Photochemical smog is highly oxidising polluted atmosphere comprising largely of ozone \[({{O}_{3}})\] oxides of nitrogen \[(N{{O}_{x}})\] hydrogen peroxide \[({{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}),\] organic peroxides, peroxy acetyl nitrate (PAN) and peroxy benzyl nitrate \[(P{{B}_{z}}N)\].                 Some sulphates and nitrates can also be formed in photochemical smog due to oxidation of sulphur containig components \[(S{{O}_{2}},\,{{H}_{2}}S)\] and \[N{{O}_{x}}({{N}_{2}}{{O}_{5}},\,\,N{{O}_{2}})\] but it does not contain carbon di-oxide \[(C{{O}_{2}})\]. Photochemcial smog materials causes damage to plants, human health hazards and corrosion problems.
