Which antibiotic inhibits interaction between t-RNA and m-RNA during bacterial protein synthesis?

    A)                                                                                                                                                                                             Erythromycin

    B)                  Neomycin

    C)                  Streptomycin

    D)                  Tetracycline

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Tetracyclin interfere with the attachment of t-RNA carrying the amino acid to the m-RNA-ribosome complex preventing the addition of amino acids to the growing polypeptide chain. Streptomycin interfere with the initial steps of protein synthesis by changing the shape of 30S portion of 70S prokaryotic ribosome.                 Erythromycin reacts with 50S portion of the 70S prokaryotic ribosome.
