AIIMS AIIMS Solved Paper-2015

  • question_answer
Assertion (A) The bar magnet falling vertically along the axis of the horizontal coil will be having acceleration less than g. Reason (R) Clockwise current induced in the coil. Each of these questions contains two statements. Assertion and Reason. Each of these questions also has four alternative choices, only one of-which is the correct answer. You have to select one of the codes (a), (b), (c) and (d) given below.

    A) If both Assertion and Reason are true and Reason is correct explanation of Assertion.

    B) If both Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.

    C) If Assertion is true but Reason is false.

    D) If both Assertion and Reason are false.

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

The magnet falling towards the ring induces a current in it. The induced current opposes the cause of change in magnetic flux. The anti-clockwise current is induced in the coil. Due to the repulsive force experienced, the magnet falls with an acceleration less than g.
