    Assertion (A) A coenzyme or metal ion that is very tightly bound to enzyme protein called prosthetic group. Reason (R) A complete, catalytically active enzymb together with its bound prosthetic group is called apoenzyme. Each of these questions contains two statements. Assertion (A) and Reason (R). Each of these questions also has four alternative choices, only one of which is the correct answer. You have to select one of the codes (a), (b), (c) and (d) given below.

    A) If both Assertion and Reason are true and Reason is correct explanation of Assertion.

    B) if both Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.

    C) If Assertion is true but Reason is false.

    D) If both Assertion and Reason are false.

    Solution :

    An apoenzyme is a enzyme without its cofactor enzymatically inactive protein and prosthetic group is a cofactor permanently associated with protein, aften covalently bound. Thus, assertion is true but reason is false.
