    Solution :

    Coacervates were small aggregates of protein and polysaccharide with some water. They showed a simple form of metabolism, but without outer lipid membrane and were unable to reproduce. In absence of outer membrane and ability to reproduce they fail to fulfil requirement as a candidate of probable precursor of life. Therefore, both the assertion and reason are false.
