AIIMS AIIMS Solved Paper-2015

  • question_answer
Assertion (A) Osmotic pressure of 0.1N urea solution is less than that of 0.1M\[V={{v}_{0}}-{{({{\omega }^{3}}{{X}^{3}}{{e}^{{{X}^{3}}}})}^{1/3}}\]solution. Reason (R) Osmotic pressure is not a colligative property. Each of these questions contains two statements. Assertion (A) and Reason (R). Each of these questions also has four alternative choices, only one of which is the correct answer. You have to select one of the codes (a), (b), (c) and (d) given below.

    A) If both Assertion and Reason are true and Reason is correct explanation of Assertion.

    B) If both Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.

    C) If Assertion is true but Reason is false.

    D) If both Assertion and Reason are false.

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Nad is an electrolyte which on dissociation give two ions. Whereas urea is not an electrolyte. Hence, osmotic pressure of 0.1M NaCI is almost double than that of 0.1M urea solution.
