Assertion The total content of iron in an adult body is 3.5 gram. The iron deficiency lead to ammonia. Reason Iron (\[F{{e}^{2+}}\]) combines with the pigment porphyrin to form heme. These questions consist two statement each printed as Assertion and Reason. While answering these question, you are required to choose any one of the following four options.

    A) Both Assertion, and Reason are true and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion

    B) Both Assertion and Reason are true, but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion

    C) Assertion is true, but Reason is false

    D) Both Assertion and Reason are false

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

The deficiency of iron leads to anaemia, because of a failure in haemoglobin synthesis. Heme combined with different proteins to form respiratory pigment that helps in respiration. These include the \[{{O}_{2}}\] carrying pigment Haemoglobin and myoglobin (\[{{O}_{2}}\] storing pigment).
