Direction for: In each of the following questions a statement of Assertion is given followed by a corresponding statement of Reason just below it. Of the statements mark the correct answer as

Assertion The percentage change in time period is 1.5% if the length of simple pendulum increases by 3%. Reason Time period is directly proportional to length of pendulum.

    A)  if both Assertion and Reason are true and the Reason is the correct explanation of the Assertion

    B)  if both Assertion and Reason are true but the Reason is nor the correct explanation of the Assertion

    C)  if Assertion is true but Reason is false

    D)  if Assertion and Reason are false

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Time period of simple pendulum of length \[l\] is \[T=2\pi \sqrt{\frac{l}{g}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]  \[T\propto \sqrt{l}\] \[\therefore \]  \[\frac{\Delta T}{T}=\frac{1}{2}\frac{\Delta I}{l}\] \[\frac{\Delta T}{T}=\frac{1}{2}\times 3=1.5%\]
